Boris Johnson proposes to remove pedestrian crossings
Labour urge caution as Mayor wants to take out 145 traffic lights across London
The London Assembly Labour group have urged the Mayor to exercise caution as he plans to get rid of 145 traffic lights - half of which are pedestrian crossings.
Labour's transport spokesperson, Val Shawcross, said: "The Mayor should be extremely cautious about taking out pedestrian crossings and reducing crossing times from London's roads. Pelican crossings are there for the safety and convenience of people on foot but they make up half of the lights proposed for removal. If anything we need more safe places to cross busy roads; not less.
"Pensioners, those with disabilities and parents of young children might not shout as loud as car drivers but they're ones who stand to lose out under these plans. I'll be supporting any Londoners across the city who feel their local roads are about to get more dangerous."

What do you think? Are any of the signals in your area on already dangerous roads? Are they near schools? Are you worried about crossing the road if these plans go ahead?
