Len is leader of the Labour Group at the London Assembly and Chair of the London Labour Party. He was first elected as London Assembly Member for Greenwich and Lewisham in 2000 and was re-elected in 2004. Before being elected to the Assembly, he was leader of Greenwich council.
Len's responsibilities at the GLA include:
- Leader of the Labour Group
- Member of the Business Management and Appointments Committee
- Member of the Standards Committee
- Member of the Economic Development, Culture & Tourism Committee
Len's other roles are:
- Chair of the Greater London Labour Party
- Non-executive Director of Tilfen Land, a property development company
- Director of the Royal Artillery Museums Trust.
